Scarborough Fair

This re-imagining of the traditional classic is in 3 distinct sections:

  • Section 1 is slow and gentle, starting with a duet between the Trombones, followed by a flowing melody on the Horns with a Trumpet counter-melody.
  • Section 2 is a fast rock section, with a lively version of the tune, and a huge “shout chorus” section.
  • Section 3 returns to a more gentle rolling version of the tune for the Trombone section, before finishing with the Horns.

This arrangement is written for a fairly standard school brass ensemble, and includes parts for the following instruments:

  • Trumpet 1
  • Trumpet 2
  • Trumpet 3
  • F Horn 1
  • F Horn 2
  • Trombone 1
  • Trombone 2
  • Bass Trombone
  • Euphonium
  • Tuba
  • Timps
  • Tambourine
  • DrumKit

The principal parts (Tpt 1, Tbne 1 Horn 1) have a wide range, and the rest of the parts are kept within a manageable range.
